OGC Contests

Oklahoma Garden Clubs, Inc.

Coloring Contests

It’s not just about being artistic, it’s about teaching our kids about various facts of Oklahoma’s beautiful treasures. We understand how important it is to teach children about their state and natural environment from butterflies and birds and not to forget our beautiful wildflowers that landscape our state. We sponsor community events across the state every year and this year we want to take it a step further and offer support if your community clubs, churches, or school would like to participate. We thought a coloring contest would be a great way to promote our great state of Oklahoma.  Don’t forget, the Oklahoma Garden Clubs, Inc. offers a monetary reward to the top winners.

Deadlines for the NGC and SCR are different than the deadline for the OGC contest (see below). New this year, the OGC contests are not due to the chair until March 1, 2024. This will give more time to schools and others to enter more of the contests. All SCR and OGC contests have a division for Senior Citizens.

OGC – There are five (5) youth awards that are State Awards only. They are the Butterfly Coloring Contest, (Eastern Tiger Swallowtail for 2024); the Conservation Poster Contest – (“Imagine to Conserve”); the Litter & Pollution Poster Contest – (“Go Green-Keep It Clean”); the Spunky Squirrel Coloring Contest – (“Caring for our World”); and the Wildflower Coloring Contest – (Common Sunflower for 2024). Some of the contest rules initial information has a different due date. It was decided after those were distributed to change to all the same deadline. Due to the district chair by March 1, 2024. If your district does not give awards, send them directly to the State Chair. **POETRY CONTEST IS LISTED UNDER NGC CONTESTS WITH SCR & NGC INFO**

SCR – There are three (3) youth awards that progress to SCR. They are the Bird Contest, (Whooping Crane for 2024); the Poetry Contest, (“I Spy with my Little Eye, Something Green Outside – Celebrating our Green World”); and the Youth Sculpture Contest – (Encouraging Youth to Keep Our Planet Green”). Due to the district chair by December 20, 2023. If your district does not give awards, send them directly to the State Chair.  **BIRD CONTEST IS LISTED UNDER OGC CONTESTS ONLY WITH SCR INFO**
